From Matilija Nursery website: Iris pacific coast hybrid ‘Matilija Blue’ is more like a species iris on the tall side with good size flowers. It’s a seedling from Iris pch ‘Blue Moment’ that has much more of a hybridized look but not nearly as strong of a grower. Iris ‘Matilija Blue’ is an exceptional grower. .

Exposure Prefers full sun for optimal performance, may still bloom in half-day shade
Water: Prefers well drained but moist good garden soil, More tolerant of dry conditions in established plants, Needs swampy conditions especially in Spring bloom season.
PH Prefers Acid solis 6.1 to 7.0, intolerant of limy soils
Fertilizer tolerant of poor soils.
