2022 Black Descriptive Irises
Black or near black is probably the most distinctive color to be present in an iris flower. There are no true black iris, they tend to be either blue-black, purple-black, or red-black. And there are many irises that have black signals, black spots, or near black areas on the flowers. In 2022 there were 47 irises that were introduced with a reference to black in their description. Below you will find a gallery of the 2022 irises that have black in their descriptions and you will be surprised to see that many would not initially catch your eye with an overiding black coloring but the color black may be a subtle accent. They are presented in alphabetical order.
