2023 Black Descriptive Irises
Black or near black is probably the most distinctive color to be present in an iris flower. There are no true black iris, they tend to be either blue-black, purple-black, or red-black. And there are many irises that only have black or near black accents like signals, spots, or other near black areas on the flowers. In 2023, of the 586 irises that have an introduction year of 2023, there were 79 that were introduced with a reference to black in their descriptions. Below you will find a gallery of the 2023 irises that have black in their descriptions and you will be surprised to see that many would not initially catch your eye with an overiding black coloring but the color black may be present as a subtle accent. They are presented in alphabetical order.
