'Bay of Fires' (Simon Voorwinde, R. 2020). Seedling A-02-11, SDB, 12" (30 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards brick red, darker distinct veining, purple midrib veins; style arms yellow on outer edge, purple strip down center, white stigmatic lip, crest gold-yellow; falls dark red and heavily veined, wide brick red band, violet stripe at tip of beard sometimes bisecting the dark black-red pumila spot; beards brown in throat and middle, ends violet; slightly purple based foliage;slight fragrance. 'Cat's Eye' x 'Yoda'. Forth Valley Iris.

Hybridizers's Comment - 'Bay of Fires'(2020): Seedling A-02-11: (Cat's Eye x Yoda), will be our first registered standard dwarf bearded iris (SDB). We're VERY excited to present 'Bay of Fires'. 'Bay of Fires' is an SDB with large, beautifully full flowers in deep reds, burgundies, and oranges with just a hint of purple on the beard like a sunset over the iconic Tasmanian location after which it is named. About 3-4 buds per stem will open from mid-season into the intermediate iris season and will reach 30-35 cm tall. This one will be available for purchase early summer of 2020 if we can increase the numbers enough to stock it.
