1978, Varner

'Betty Wood' (Steve Varner, R. 1978). Seedling V401., R. SDB, height 13" (33 cm), Early midseason bloom. Ruffled light green, creamy white blend; light violet blue beard. Correction of parentage 1980 to: 'Pearl Sheen' X Greenlee seedling F4: ('Cretica' x 'Chérie'). Illini Iris 1979. Honorable Mention 1981; Award of Merit 1985.

From AIS Bulletin #232 Winter 1979 Introducing BETTY WOOD: SDB, Sdlg. V401. EM, 13". (Pearl Sheen X Greenlee F4 (Cretica x self). This lovely, flared, ruffled light green, creamy white iris with soft violet-blue beard and strong stalk has won acclaim in the East and Midwest. $15.00. Illini Iris.
