'Doctor Long John' (Loïc Tasquier, R. 2010) Seedling A173A. SDB, 13" (34 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards and style arms light violet; falls same, becoming dark pink-violet beneath beard, very pronounced light violet haft veins, very long, horizontal; beards pale violet-blue; slight sweet fragrance. 'Dale Dennis' X 'Bedford Lilac'. La Ferme des Iris 2012.

Hybridizer's comment: 'Doctor Long John' is one in a series of irises with very long and horizontal falls; they look like stars, seen from the top, and I intend to keep exploring into this direction for new colours and patterns. Thanks to Bette Midler for the name!
