'Great Expectations' (Hooker Nichols, R. 1983). Seedling# 8206G. SDB, 14" (36 cm). Midseason to very late bloom. Standards deep creamy yellow, bordered white; falls sulphur mustard, bordered white, dark brown hafts; blue beard tipped yellow. Seedling# 7901A, 'Captured Spirit' sibling X seedling# 7911A: ('Oliver' x 'Marinka'). Hillcrest Iris 1984.

From AIS Bulletin #252, January 1984 Introducing GREAT EXPECTATIONS (H. Nichols) SDB 14" #8206G M-L. This iris probably caused the most excitement in the garden. Ruffled creamy yellow standards are bordered white. Broad ruffled falls are blended sulphur-mustard with white borders. Blue beards tipped yellow. Pod fertile. Dancing Moonbeam sib. A sure shot for popularity. $10.00. Hillcrest Iris Gardens.
