(SDB) 'Mella Belle'

1974, Williams

'Mella Belle' (Frank A. Williams, R. 1971). Seedling# M 38. SDB, 11" (28 cm), Late bloom. Standards creamy white ground with lavender-blue plicata markings; falls creamy white with inconspicuous plicata markings at back of haft; light lavender-blue beard. Purple I. mellita hybrid X ('Minette' x yellow I. mellita). Williams 1974.

From AIS Bulletin #212 January 1974 Introducing MELLA BELLE. SDB. Mellita hybrid. 24 chr. dwarf, which blooms with intermediates. In effect, a standards only plicata of lavender-blue markings on a milky white ground; stylearms also lavender-blue, as is beard. Very fertile both ways. Has given me some very nice seedlings which open in tall season. $10.00. Frank Willoiams.
