'Quail' (Lawrence Craig by R. Young, selector, R. 1967). Seedling# 423. SDB, 10" (25 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-W20, Standards rich golden brown; falls white ground, sharp warm brown stitching to white center of petal; dark gold beard. 'Pewee' X Craig seedling# 423 (unknown parentage). Young 1967. Honorable Mention 1968; Award of Merit 1971.

From AIS Bulletin #185 April 1967 Introducing QUAIL (L. Craig). SDB. 10". EM. W20. Standards rich golden brown; falls white ground; dark gold beard. Sharp warm brown stitching to lighter white center of semi-flared falls. A new bright plicata registered at request of Median Iris Society members who admired it. (PEE WEE X C-423) X pollen parentage lost since 1941 cross was made. $5.00. Robert Young.
