From AIS Bulletin #261 April 1986 Introducing SUN DOLL (Bennett C. Jones) SDB, 14", Midseason. From two superior red irises, this bright sunny yellow is a credit to each of them. A medium yellow self whose standards are domed and closed. Its wide falls are abundantly ruffled, sparkling in the sunshine. Well branched stalks carry ample buds, assuring a long season of bloom. A superior yellow iris. Sdlg. M370-l: (Tortuga X Queen's Pawn). $7.50. Contemporary Gardens.

• SDB 'Sun Doll' was blooming at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, zone 4b, approximately, May 11-27, in 2017. It has Purple Based Foliage, at least after flowering; I am not certain if the PFB is visible before or during flowering. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 08 Aug 2017
