Hybridizer's Comment - 'Sunset on Bridestowe' (2020). Seedling A-01-01: (Wee Stroll x Yoda). Tasmania is so full of truly amazing and iconic places! A place that is setting the standard for Agritourism in Tasmania, that every person should visit, is Bridestowe Lavender Estate (https://bridestowelavender.com.au/), and in summer the fields will be in full bloom! The beard on this iris seedling reminds me of the rows of lavender at Bridestowe and the warmer orange and pink tones around on the petals reminds me of a warm summer sunset. I can't think of a better name to combine both of these than 'Sunset on Bridestowe'. We have contacted Bridestowe Lavender Estate to seek permission to use their name in naming this seedling and we are very pleased that they could not be happier. 'Sunset on Bridestowe' will form a nice sized clump and will cover itself in flower stems once it gets going early in the season. A shorter growing SDB that will reach about 25cm in height with 3 buds per stem that open sequentially to give a long bloom season |
