■(SIB) 'Banish Misfortune'

1999, Schafer/Sacks

'Banish Misfortune' (Marty Schafer & Jan Sacks, R. 1999). Seedling S92-85-12. SIB, 45" (114 cm). Early to late bloom. Standards medium light bluebird blue (RHS 94C), veined darker (94B); style arms lighter, with dark midrib; falls lobelia blue (91B) on lower portion, veined darker, remainder covered by large signal of dark mimosa yellow (8A) on haft paling (8D) on blade, with deep purple (93A/B) veins; slight fragrance. Seedling S89-23-4: (seedling S85-6-6: ('Star Cluster' x 'Ruffled Velvet') x 'Isabelle') X 'Snow Prince'. Joe Pye Weed 1999. Honorable Mention 2003; Award of Merit 2007; Morgan-Wood Medal 2011.

From AIS Bulletin #313 April 1999 Introducing BANISH MISFORTUNE (Sdlg. S92-85-12), 45", E-L. Outstanding clump with tall strong stalks, 6-7 buds. Small flowers reminiscent of sibirica with fuller form. Standards and falls are mid lavender with a large smooth yellow to cream signal, veined deep purple. $30.00. Joe Pye Weed's Garden.
