■(SIB) 'Lady Vanessa'
1986, Hollingsworth
'Lady Vanessa' (
Robert Hollingworth, R. 1985). Seedling 82J2B8. SIB, 36" (91 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards light wine red; feathered styles lighter than falls; Falls ruffled medium wine red, inconspicuous white signal.
'Ruffled Velvet' X
'Showdown'. Borbeleta Gardens, Windwood Gardens 1986. Honorable Mention 1988; Award of Merit 1990;
Morgan-Wood Medal 1992.
Comment: Standards are wide, ruffled red-violet with blue veining. Falls are intenser in colour, barely ruffled with a white signal overlaid with deep blue veins. Gold throat is small. Style arms are much paler violet deepening away from the ridge, which is blue at the base. An exceptional flower in the garden of delicate beauty and nuance.

- SIB 'Lady Vanessa' was blooming at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, zone 4b, approximately May 27 - June 10, in 2017. This variety has purple spathes, but didn't show signs of Purple Based Foliage at the base of the leaves. -- HollyJohnson2017-04-01 - 09 Aug 2017
