From AIS Bulletin #301 April 1996 Introducing LADY WALPOLE-SIBERIAN. Schafer/Sacks (Seedling No. S90-62-4), 32",E-M. Lady Walpole's Reel is a wonderful New England contra dance, full of vim, vigor and vitality-just like this iris. Vigor because it grows like mad, vitality because it has 2 branches and 6 buds and blooms from the beginning of the main Siberian season until the end. And vim because it is a lovely medium blue-violet near-amoena with diamond dusting and gentle ruffles. Lady Walpole has beautifully proportioned flowers with neat, full form and makes a terrific garden plant. (Lady Vanessa x Springs Brook) X (Springs Brook x ((Atoll x Ruffled Velvet) x Ruffled Velvet)). $30.00. Joe Pye Weed's Garden. |
