The 'Persimmon' that is currently available appears to be a 28 chromosome siberian while the original registration was a 40 chromosome hybrid. Somewhere the currently pictured 'Persimmon' seems to have been switched and all present sources appear to be this newer iris.
The original 'Persimmon' registration offers the following reference: The Garden illustrated 61: iii. 22 July 1939.
