1975, McEwen

'Purple Princess' (Currier McEwen, R. 1975). Seedling 70/171. SIB, 26" (66 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards red-violet (RHS 77A), darker (79A) veining, giving overall color of rich purple; falls same but more velvety. 'Court Violet' X I. clarkei . McEwen 1975. Honorable Mention 1976.

From AIS Bulletin #218 July 1975 Introducing PURPLE PRINCESS: 26", M, RVl. Dainty 3-1/2" flowers of velvety reddish purple are absolute selfs with no markings of any kind. In contrast to most 40's, it branches and reblooms! Pollen fertile. An aristocrat! Court Violet X I. clarkei. $15.00. Currier McEwen.
