'Aaron's Blue' (Gabriel Lecomte, R. 2014) Seedling SETIB001. SPEC (setosa), 25.5" (65 cm). Early midseason bloom. Style arms light violet, violet-blue in middle, crests light violet-blue, violet-blue in middle; falls light blue-violet veined violet all over, signal white striped violet-blue with white stripe down middle of fall. Parentage unknown; seed from SIGNA. Mt. Pleasant 2018. Honorable Mention 2022

From Mt. Pleasant Iris Farm catalog 2018: Iris setosa ‘Aaron’s Blue (Lecomte ’18) New Introduction. Selected seedling from Species Iris of Greater North America (SIGNA) seed exchange. This iris is the only iris native to both Asia and North America requiring copious amounts of water during the growing season. Rich moist composted soils that are slightly acidic. Full sun in maritime areas, afternoon shade elsewhere. Very winter hardy, an old common name “Artic Blue Flag” (I grow in the same soils and conditions as Iris ensata, Japanese iris). Aaron’s Blue bloom stems 24-25 inches tall with near black Spathes. Zone 3-8. $25.00.
