'Albopurpurea' (John Gilbert Baker, 1896-E., Asia, China, Japan). Section Limniris , Series Laevigatae . White flecked Cerulean blue; The original plant described by Baker was mixed in with a shipment of Japanese Iris and differs only from typical Iris laevigata by its flower color which was white flecked with blue and purple. He described it as a new species but is undoubtedly only a garden form. Although it breeds true several other garden forms showing greater or less purple have been described under the name albopurpurea with additional modifiers. Van Tubergen 1916; Wallace 1916.
