Series Unguiculares. SPEC, Earliest known listing by Beth Chatto Gardens limited. Because it is not registered there is no official description (even the spelling of the name varies). The following is a description based upon plants offered by Sequim Rare Plant and recieved in bloom (2/15/2012);
Height 8" (20 cm). Standards slightly redder than RHS Violet blue group 90a/b but not as red as RHS violet group 83a/b. base of blade and claw of petal becoming rosey pink towards base, falls same violet blue with signal area having a pattern of white lines on either side and in front of a yellow spear. The central yellow band bright sulphur yellow at its tip and become a soft greenish yellow towards its base. 2 images below.

Reply from the Chatto nursery : 'I have checked with David Ward our Plant Propagation Manager and he says that he thinks we lost stock of this plant in the mid 1980's. Mrs Chatto originally was given the plant by the late Sir Cedric Morris of Hadleigh in Suffolk.
