1907, Sprenger?

'Japonica Aphrodite' (Distributed by Carl Sprenger an Italian nurseryman, as early as 1907). Section Lophiris, (Evansia). Iris japonica with variegated shiny white and green evergreen foliage. Cay.1907; Jennifer Hewitt adds "Iris japonica 'Aphrodite' listed for sale in 1995 by Cotswold Garden Flowers who say it is more vigorous and better marked than Iris japonica variegata." Iris japonica Thunberg.
