Subgenus Nepalensis although British Iris Society Species Guide places it in
Subgenus Limniris,
Section Lophiris. Height 2-11" (6-14 cm); Flowers violet with jagged crest and falls blotched on lower half. Zhao in Acta Phytotaxonomica Sinica 18(1): 61. 1980.
