(SPEC) Iris nicolai Vved.

1935, Botanical author VvedenskyNicolai

'Nicolai' (Aleksei Ivanovich Vvedensky, 1935, Kataghan province, Afghanistan & Pamir-Alai Mts., Russia). Subgenus Scorpiris (Juno); 5-6" (12-15 cm); 1-3 Flowers, whitish or pale violet ground color, F. deep violet, velvet-like apex and pair of nerves on either side of prominent rich orange crest.First described by Vvedensky in Bull Univ.. As. Centr. 21, 151 (1935) [Treated by Wendelbo and Mathew in Flora Iranica as (perhaps a variety of) synonymous with Iris rosenbachiana.
