Iris lactea); synonym
Iris pallassi variety
chinensis Fischer. The 1939 AIS checklist gave this the cultivar name 'Ensata Chinensis' but since this
Iris lactea no longer goes under the name of
Iris ensata it would be less confusing to use its botanical varietal name than its cultivar name. Modern cultivated code no longer allows a species epithet to be included in a cultivar name but this name was created before that code rule.
