Section Iris, Another purple flowered white bearded, 40 chromosome Iris from Italy. Colasante in Giornale Botanico Italiano vol. 123, Suppl 1, page. 112. Originally described as Iris suaveolens N. Terr. in 1899 in Atti del Reg. Istit. d'i 10. but since that name was already taken for a different plant it was renamed Iris relicta because of its reducing area of population.
Chromosome counts: 2n=40, Colasante & Sauer, 1993; 2n=40, Colasante, 1996.
