From Walter Marx Gardens catalog 1962: CHEROKEE CHIEF (Nies) Each 1.50; 3 for 3.50. Velvety deep brown with a rich yellow signal patch. Large flowers on tall stems. Very beautiful cut flowers. HM 1951.
