'Chocolate Fudge' ( O. David Niswonger, R. 1987) Seedling #SP 1-77. SPU, height 42" (107 cm). Early bloom. Standards deep brown; falls golden yellow, deep brown rim. Ferguson dark seedling. X 'Crow Wing'. Cape Iris 1988. Honorable Mention 1990; Award of Merit 1993; Nies Medal 1996.

From AIS Bulletin #269 April 1988 Introducing CHOCOLATE FUDGE (Niswonger '88) Sp 1-77: (Walker Ferguson dark sdlg. X Crow Wing. Spuria, 42" (107 cm), early and fertile. This is a sib to Missouri Blue, but nothing like it in color. It's deep brown with a near orange area on the falls. It stands out and attracts attention from across the garden. Its vigor and cold resistance make it a good prospect for the northern climes. $20.00. Cape Iris.
