From Deleuil & fils catalog n° 67, Feb. 1903: "Iris Hyerense Lilacina, parentage : iris kaempferi x iris xiphiodes (1896)
«Voici la description de cette nouvelle variété : feuilles rigides et larges de 1,20 m de longueur formant rapidement une touffe déjà très décorative par elle-même, ses fleurs quelle donne en mars-avril, très grande de couleur azur lilacé, avec une large macule jaune à l'extrémité de chacune de ses divisions. Ces fleurs au nombre de 10-15, s'ouvrent successivement, en un épi terminal, bien au dessus du feuillage et produisent un ensemble d'un effet nouveau..."
