'Protege' (Ben Hager, R. 1966) Seedling #S139. SPU, 36" (91 cm). Late bloom. Standards medium blue; falls white veined blue. 'Golden Lady' X 'I. carthaliniae'. Melrose 1969. High Commendation 1968; Honorable Mention 1970.

From AIS Bulletin #193 April 1969 introducing PROTEGE (Ben R. Hager). Spuria. (Golden Lady X I. carthaliniae). Best of the children, from the use of this species spuria. Very blue; large flowers. NET $15.00. Melrose Gardens.
