From AIS Bulletin #209 April 1973 Introducing ACT 1 (Newhard '73). (Marquesan Skies x Orchid Dancer). EML. Sdlg. 101. 37". Blue orchid flowers on sturdy stalks. Very wide hafts-lightly ruffled flowers avoid the blocky look of most larger flowers. My best tall bearded effort to date. HC '71. $25.00. Palette Gardens. |
ACT I (Newhard) is an orchid-violet with a lighter area in the falls. The tangerine beard is not conspicuous. The pleasing flower is ruffled and semiflaring, with eight buds on the nicely branched stalk. [Hal Stahly, AIS Bulletin #210 July 1973:33] |
