'Admiral Sideburns' (Caroline DeForest, R. 1969) Seedling 66-62. TB, 32" (81 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards saccardo violet flushed golden brown; Falls saccardo violet, hafts conspicuously brushed golden brown; yellow beard. Seedling 61-49 X 'Floating Moon'. Irisnoll 1970. High Commendation 1969, Honorable Mention 1972.

From AIS Bulletin #197 April 1970 Introducing ADMIRAL SIDEBURNS. 32 inches. A bright, 7-inch, iridescent flower of "Saccardo Violet" (Ridgway). Standards closed; slightly flushed golden brown in the center. Falls flaring, with golden brown outward flowing markings in the manner of old time side whiskers. Several flowers to a stalk. Attracts attention!! #66-62. HC '69. Sdlg. by Floating Moon. $25.00. Irisnoll.
