The following is reported in the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station Memoir 100Admiral Togo (Listed by Childs in 1914) Color effect a reddish-lavender-plicated white, with light purple reticulations on lower segments; size small; form short to long, compact, rounded; flowering habit free; tall bearded class ; height · 27 in.; branching fastigiate to wide, at center or higher, 2 laterals. A flower of good substance; frail to firm texture; smooth surface; fair fragrance; fair lasting quality. Fairly useful as a cut flower, and giving a delicate color in mass.S. lavender-white, edged but not blended with light purple, reticulated with light purple; carriage cupped, arching; blade obovate, notched, undulate, slightly ruffled or frilled, smooth or slightly creped; size 1 ½ in. wide, 2 in. long. F. creamy glossy white in sun, plicated with a deeper reddish lavender; carriage drooping; shape curved, wedge-shaped, slightly pinched, ovate, slightly obcordate; smooth; size 1½ in. wide, 2 in. long. Minor parts: beard fine, dense, projecting, conspicuous, white tipped with brownish; haft of medium width, channeled; reticulations fine, widely spaced; style-branches broad, overarching, light violet; crest large, fringed; pollen plentiful; spathe-valves scarious, inflated. Growth moderate to vigorous ; increase normal ; habit regular; foliage stiff, leaves slender, deep glaucous green; 3 blooms open at once, floriferous; stalk erect, flexuous, with 7 buds. A reddish lavender variety similar to Mme. Chereau, but not so tall nor so distinctly penciled. |
