'Akademik Koroliov' Академик Королёв (
Irina Driagina, R. 1996). Seedling 5-01. TB, 43" (110 cm), Late bloom. Light blue self; beards orange. Parentage unknown. Driagina 1973. The variety was obtained as a result of an experiment on growing irises from seeds treated with ionizing radiation in the 1960s.
Translation: Академик Королёв = Academician Korolev (S.P. Korolev was the chief designer and organizer of the Soviet rocket and space program until 1966).
