1987, Schreiner

'Altruist' (Schreiner, R. 1987). Seedling T 115-B. TB, 37" (94 cm), Early midseason bloom. Standards flax blue (HCC 6/42), white midrib; falls flax blue, chalk white center; white beard; ruffled and fluted. Seedling L 23-6: (seedling G 125-2 x 'Victoria Falls') X 'Tides In'. Schreiner 1987. Favorite Guest 1988, Honorable Mention 1989, Award of Merit 1991.

  • TB 'Altruist' was blooming at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, zone 4b, approximately, May 29 - June 13, in 2017. The registered description states that the beard is white. However, the beard is white only at the very tip, about the midpoint, it is tipped gold, and it becomes gold in the throat. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 10 Aug 2017
