From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: AMETHYST FLAME (Schr. '58) ML. 38 in. Crispette x (Lavanesque x Pathfinder). Large, wonderfully formed flowers of soft lavender lilac with a glistening overtone of pink. Good stalks and branching. A.M. 1960. Plant Pat. No. 1793. 5.00.
Amethyst Flame held first position on Popularity Polls in 1964 and 1965.
Amethyst Flame: A large, ruffled lilac with a flame-colored haft. Good in every way and always has been one of our favorites. Deserves the Dykes Medal it won in 1963. Hildenbrandt, Lester (1965). Irises for a Beginner, American Iris Society Bulletin 177 (April 1965), 27.
