From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1942: ANCHORAGE (Grant 1940) M. The standards are clear wild strawberry broad and well domed. The very large semi-flaring falls are of the same hue deepening to garnet on the lower part and flushed chocolate brown at the wide haft. Beard orange. Warm and lustrous, the smoothly finished flowers are not marred by venations and are devoid of the purple tints often found in red irises. Excellent branching. Per. R. 86 1941. 40 in. $5.00. |
