From Tell’s Iris Gardens catalog,1959: ANEMBO (Gordon Bootes, Australia) Early-Midseason.38-40 inches tall. (Helen McGregor) X Hit Parade x Pink Formal). The name is Australian Aborigines meaning PEACEFUL. Certainly this huge light yellow self is just that, yet quite overpowering and commanding in its great substance coupled with size. There is a light area in the falls, the only other color save the slightly deeper beard. The petals have great width, the standards are beautifully domed, the falls flaring. Very heavy upright stalks could be lower and better branched. I feel it is a great iris with marvelous breeding potentialities. $20.00 |
