"Arab Chief (Whiting '44) was not in bloom in the Long Gardens but came out later in mine and I have grown it in Omaha and seen it in the Whiting Gardens. It is late and tall and brings its glowing burnt orange hue to the garden after most things have finished, so is doubly welcome. It is generous with its bloom and its brilliant color never fails to bring comments." David R. Kinnish, O. S. B., (Kansas), “In Kansas, Missouri and Illinois,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 107, “Iris Ramblings” (October 1947): 39. |
