'Archevêque' (Vilmorin-Andrieux et Cie, 1911) TB, Midseason bloom. Color Class B9D.
Registered as an IB, now considered a TB. Diploïd. Heterozygous purple (W1w1).

From H. P. Simpson catalog, 1922: ARCHEVEQUE (Vilmorin, 1911) S. purple-violet; F. rich, deep, velvety purple. A stunning color and excelled by none in My gardens. Good grower and fine bloomer. One of the very richest coloeffects. 24-28 inch. 35c.
 
From Longfield Iris Farm catalog, 1930: ARCHEVEQUE (Vilmorin, 1911). A richly colored Iris, mass effect red purple. Standards deep purple violet; falls velvety raisin purple. Fragrant. Two feet. $.25
