'Aristocrat' (
Frances Cleveland, R. 1920) TB. Midseason bloom. Color Class-R3M. Cleveland 1920, 1938, Katkamier 1939. Originally registered as 'Grenadier' in 1920 but the name was changed to Aristocrat in 1923 because of prior introduction of an 'Aristocrat'. Later this iris was declared obsolete and the name was reused for
another iris in 1954.

| From Sunnybrook Iris Gardens catalog, 1925: ARISTOCRAT — S. soft mauve with a pinkish caste, dome shaped, very broad and wavy. F. deeper in tone, creamy at throat, veined maroon, with a blotch of darker color at throat which gives a most distinctive appearance to the flower. Very tall. $5.00. |
