1980, Zurbrigg

'Baked Alaska' (Lloyd Zurbrigg, R. 1976). Seedling# L 50 Frosty. TB, height 33" (84 cm), Early to midseason bloom. Standards white with flushes of golden tan; falls white, bordered golden tan; blue beard. Seedling# G 76 Blanche: (('Avis' x ((seedling# 52-40A x 'Blue Surprise') x 'Autumn Sensation')) x 'O My Goodness') X (('Commentary' x 'Purple Duet') x 'O My Goodness'). Avonbank Gardens 1980.

From AIS Bulletin #237 April 1980 Introducing BAKED ALASKA-White meringue toasted golden brown here and there with blueberry blue beards. Large, wide, handsome flowers on very good stalks in a new coloring for tall beardeds. Fertile both ways, and strong, thrifty plants. No dwarf blood. $30.00. Avonbank Iris Gardens.
