Standards deep purple black (deeper than RHS 79A), lighter area around midrib; falls same, with white wash beginning at beard and blending to solid purple black rim, hafts touched deep brown; beards deep brown violet. 'Wagontrail Night' X 'Night Lady'. Stahly 1994. Honorable Mention 1996; Favorite Guest Iris 1996; Award of Merit 1998.

From AIS Bulletin #293 April 1994 Introducing BALTIC STAR (Stahly '94) TB, 34", M. Purple-black standards (deeper than RHS 79A), a little lighter at midrib. Falls same with a white wash at beards blending to solid purple-black rim; clean hafts touched deep brown; deep brown-violet beards. Ruffled, wide, semi-flaring flowers on excellent stalks. Different than any iris I know, this striking plicata variant comes from solid red-black parents, each half plic. Fertile. Sdlg. 88-28: (Wagontrail Night X Night Lady). $30.00. Harold Stahly.
