ORIGINAL CATALOG DESCRIPTION:

Bellerive.1950.Benson.jpg

This iris was co-introduced with Tell Muhlestein.

From AIS Bulletin #117, April 1950. Introducing BELLERIVE (Benson-1950) A huge ruffled cream with splendid form and poise, possessing a smooth, glistening sheen. Domed standards, semi-flaring falls, strong 42-inch stalks. A vigorous grower. $10.00. Syllmar Gardens 1950.
"Bellerive, a 1950 introduction from Clifford Benson, was about the loveliest deep cream I ever saw. Somewhat darker than 'Desert Song', it had a thickness of petal which made the color appear deeper. If it is a good doer, it will be very popular." Mrs. Ed Conrad (Idaho), “Way Beyond the Hills of Idaho” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 121, (April 1951): 35.
