From Iris Test Garden catalog, 1958: BLIZZARD. (Knowlton 1949). E. A large white that is as pure in color as freshly fallen snow. The flowers are firm textured and well domed standards and arched flaring falls. The whole flower is frilled and ruffied, aud the bright yellow beard is in sharp, but pleasing contrast. H.C. 1946. BLIZZARD (Knowlton) (Snow Flurry X Easter Morn): Fine ruffled white. Opens whiter than Snow Flurry although the buds have a bluish cast. Branching short but an improvement on its parent. On a 42" stalk and with many flowers open at a time, Blizzard made a fine display. A pure white, tall, well-branched, large flowers. I recommend it for H.C. it impressed me so. Mrs. C. B. Broddy. A very fine Snow Flurry seedling with many flowers on a fine stem. E. Hill, Tulsa, Okla. “Varietal Comments,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 104 (January 1947). |
