From Milliken Gardens catalog, 1932: BLUE GOWN (Essig, 1932). Tall blue iris of fine depth of color, nearly a self, large size, good form, and firm substance. The brilliant golden beard is charmingly displayed on wide flaring falls. It is a fitting companion of 'Blue and Gold', but has more purple tones and is taller. The stems are slender, stiff and from four to five feet high . We have introduced a number of blue irises, but every one of them has an individual quality and distinction. $5.00
