From 1937 Schreiner's catalog: BLUE DANUBE (J. Sass 1933) ML. 44". A finely branched specimen in the light blue color class. The blooms are large and full and of a beautifully clear tone of blue. BLUE MONARCH. A beautifully ruffled flower seemingly having enough good points to warrant it an A.M. Why has this beautiful production of Jacob Sass not received an A.M. before this? The S. are domed, the F. flare, the branching is fine. [Mrs. Herman E. Lewis, "Varietal Notes 1938", A.I.S. Bulletin 72 (January 1939): 9.] |
