From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: BOLD GIANT (Austin '62) ML-40". Everyone seems drawn to enormous Iris, & here IS a big, bold, impressive new one that will attract a lot of attention. Often has a spread of 7 inches or more. The falls frequently a full 3 inches wide. Standards are smooth coffee-buff, well closed, contrasting nicely with the broad, velvety & strongly flaring dark crimson falls. Comes from Char-Maize, so may be useful in breeding Greens as well as Colossals. Pollen abundant. (Char-Maize X Gaylord). Reg. $4.00; on $10 order $2.80; on $25 order $1.95; 3 for $5.55. |
