From AIS Bulletin #205 April 1972 Introducing BORDER HAPPY '72. M. 36". $25.00. This dark aconite violet rimmed plicata is well named. The contrast of the dark border on a white ground is most outstanding, giving a black and white appearance from a distance. It placed #3 at Florence, Italy 1971. It was also awarded the cup for best commercial variety. The blooms are 5-1/2" x 6". The beard is white with yellow tips. Seedling #44-5B. Gibson's Iris Garden.

BORDER HAPPY(Gibson) is a real deep purple plicata on a white ground. It is distinguished by its fine wide branching and bud count of about twelve. [Hal Stahly, AIS Bulletin #210 July 1973:33]
