From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: BRIGADOON (Tompkins 1955) E. L. 38 in. (((Honeyflower x Sea shell) x Three Oaks x ((Spring Maid x Far West) x F.Zenor))) x (((Spindrift ({Spring Maid x Far West) x F. Zenor)) x Nylon x Sass 40-313))) x (Dark Fire x Colorcade)). A brilliant blend of Fuchsia red and Amethyst Violet, this is one of the most brilliant Iris we have ever seen and certainly has the most carryIng power. The flowers are very large, beautifully formed with broad, softly ruffled petals. The substance is heavy and the finish is like gleaming, silken taffeta. There is a flush of Chocolate-red over the hafts which are completel free from venations and a full chocolate red beard adds to the richness. The stalks are tall, very strong and have good branching with excellent placement. H. M. 1955. Stock very limited this year. Net 35.00.
From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: BRIGADOON (Tompkins '55) E-L-38". My nomination for brightest Iris now available anywhere. A delightfully smooth blend of bright fuchsia-red, amethyst-violet, true purple . Very large, yet beautifully formed, softly ruffled petals of heavy substance. HC'54; HM'55. Regularly $3.00; on $10 order $1.85; on $25 order $1.25; 3 for $3.20; 10 for $9.60.
