'Bright Moon' (James Marsh, R. 1965). Seedling# 63-52. TB, 30" (76 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-YlL, Canary yellow self (Wilson 2/2). Sibling to 'Pirate Treasure' X ( 'Waxing Moon' x 'Desert Song' seedling# 61-50). Marsh 1966. High Commendation 1965.

| From AIS Bulletin #181 April 1966. Introducing BRIGHT MOON (Marsh '66) M, 30", Sdlg. 63-52. Sib of PIRATE TREASURE X (WAXING MOON X DESERT SONG sdlg.). We consider BRIGHT MOON the most spectacular canary-yellow iris we have ever seen. A very heavily fuffled, huge canary-yellow self (Wilson 2/2) with wide, clean hafted, nearly horizontal, ruffled falls. The big arching standards are extremely ruffled and nearly closed. Long lasting flowers stand the wind very well considering their large size. Because of the 30" stalk, blooms of this stature seem a little crowded, but their bright yellow ruffles make a beautiful sight just the same. A very good grower and increaser that is fertile both ways. HC 1965 $25.00. James Marsh. |
