From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1965: BROTHER ED. 59-3 (Arthur Watkins 1965) M. L. This beautiful iris was named by Arthur Watkins to honor the memory of his beloved brother Edward Watkins, our most famous and eminent hybridizer. Last summer I was especially pleased with this iris, in fact I voted an H. C. for it in 1964. It is an azure blue self with very firm substance and exceptionally good form. The closed standards are firmly held and are very ruffled. The flaring falls have a fine almost laced edge that is most pleasing and the blue beard is in perfect harmony with the whole flower. A very handsome iris. Eleanor's Pride x Chivalry x Jan Hess x Eleanor's Pride. 36 in. $25.00 |
